SONYA MODA was born from a simple belief: the most memorable moments in a woman's life deserve to be dressed for beautifully.

Founded in Sydney by designer and creative director Sonya Mefaddi, the brand was built from the ground up with no formal fashion training, no industry connections and no roadmap, just a vision to create pieces that women would reach for during life's most meaningful celebrations.

What began as an idea quickly evolved into a globally recognised occasionwear label, worn by women around the world for engagements, weddings, black-tie events, milestone birthdays and unforgettable evenings.

Every collection begins with Sonya. From the first sketch to fabric sourcing, fittings, campaign direction and final production approvals, she remains deeply involved in every stage of the creative process. Her hands-on approach ensures each piece reflects the balance of femininity, confidence and timeless elegance that has become synonymous with the brand.

When I launched SONYA MODA, I had no formal design training and very little understanding of how the fashion industry worked. What I did have was a clear vision of the kind of pieces I wanted to create and an unwavering belief that women deserved occasionwear that felt both beautiful and effortless.

Over the years I've taught myself every aspect of the business, from design and fabric sourcing to production, wholesale partnerships, e-commerce and creative direction. Today I still lead every collection personally, working closely with our suppliers and team to bring each design to life.

What inspires me most is knowing that our pieces become part of our customers' most treasured memories. Whether it's an engagement celebration, a wedding weekend, a milestone birthday or a special evening abroad, I feel incredibly honoured that women choose SONYA MODA to be part of those moments.
